We started a new tradition with the Dhara’s this year - chopping down our own Christmas tree! This is the picture that didn’t make the Christmas card.

Thanks-Vegas
I’ve never been to Vegas without the intention of a lot of drinking, dancing and debauchery with friends.
But, this Thanksgiving, I experienced Las Vegas in a different light!
The plan was to suprise Grandpa Mahon for his 80th birthday. I was super excited as I haven’t met the Mahon side of Kevin’s family. Kevin was just as excited becuase he hasn’t seen them all in a really long time. Aunts and Uncles and Cousins and Grandparents, oh my! Plus his mom and brother came too – it was like a big reunion.
Except, then Grandpa Mahon decided not to come. We still don’t really know why but he was there in spirit (and on a stick).
The first day we were there was pretty much the perfect day. We flew in early, got massages, hung out at the spa, had lunch watching the Husky Bball game (they’re so fun to watch this year!), wandered the strip and had ice creams for dinner. It just doesn’t get better than that!
The rest of the weekend was spent with family. We ate a lot, visited, played Wii pictionary, shopped and went to Tony and Tina’s Wedding - just for practice!
What happens in Vegas doesn’t always have to stay in Vegas!

Shower and Sap
I’m a lot behind on the blog. Partly because we’ve been busy bees but mostly because I haven’t been able to put into words all the love in the air. Why is it all I have in my head is this?
My sister and AME threw a bridal shower for me the first part of November. Kind of early in the grand scheme of wedding but I think that was good for me. **Warning sappy-ness in 5…4…3…2…**
Driving to Spokane with Maris and Cousin, chatting, it really sunk in that I’m getting married. Like, married married! Love, marriage, meeting “the one” – oh my goodness, I’ve talked with my girls countless hours – me talking, me listening, tears, jeers. The one thing I’ve talked to girlfriends and Mom about since before I even knew Kevin is actually happening – for me. With Kevin. Looking back and more importantly, looking forward, I can’t imagine being with anyone but Kevin. If only I knew that six years ago….but, when you know, you know - and not a moment before!
In addition to my revelation of ”wow, it’s not just talk anymore, it’s actually my turn” there was this overwhelming feeling that all of these women from pretty much my entire Spokane life are all going to be in one place, all for me. It kind of freaked me out a bit. I like attention, don’t get me wrong but it was really overwhelming. What a feeling it is to be loved by so many people. Having all those women from childhood, who have each influenced my life in different ways all come together to celebrate our upcoming marriage was flattering and surreal and my heart was permanently warmed.
I’m a lucky girl.
Oh! And, uh, the presents were cool too!
Halloween!
I think everything is going to be fun this year because it’ll be our “firsts” of everything. Our first jack-o-lanterns on our new porch and our first trick-or-treaters in our new house and our first fall in our new house (holy crap, we have a lot leaves.).
So, for our first Halloween in our new house, we carved pumpkins and eagerly awaited trick-or-treaters. We weren’t really sure how many kiddo’s we’d have so we started out with big handfuls….figuring it wouldn’t be too many. Turns out that was a mistake as we ran out of candy! I was pleased to see that kids still trick-or-treat, just like we used to. There’s something about dressing in costume, running from house to house in the dark, rain and cold asking for candy. Best idea ever!
Gorgeous
Beaten to the Punch
Feeling Tipsy
I got Kevin an Indo Board for his birthday. He thought it would be a great idea to try it out at 1am after drinking most of the evening. I promise, I tried to advise him otherwise but there’s just no reasoning with the birthday boy.
What you are about to see is quite sad. But the more you watch it, the funnier it gets. Replay this puppy at least once – it’s totally worth it
Cousins Please!
My adorable niece made a song to the tune of Jingle Bells for Kevin and me.
It goes something like this:
Auntie Kelli, Uncle Kevin
they get married too
mumble mumble mumble
i like fancy dress
Pllggggggfffff
Cousins please!
I’m pretty sure positive she was put up to that. But it’s pretty irresistable nonetheless.
Soon baby, soon. For now, pick out that new fancy dress!
Yes, yes, yes (it’s about time!). YES!
Most of you know the exciting news….Kevin and I are engaged!
The short story: Kevin made me run in the rain so he could ask me to marry him.
The long story: Kevin and I run Greenlake after work fairly often. A lot less lately as it’s dark early and cold and rainy. Last Wednesday Kevin announced in the morning that we needed to go for a run. We hadn’t gone in a long time and he was feeling out of shape. I agreed, knowing if it was raining we wouldn’t really go. Of course, it was raining but Kevin still REALLY wanted to run. I whined the entire car ride to the lake but he eventually convinced me it was a great idea.
I usually change at work and take off running once we get to the lake. Kevin usually changes at the lake, then catches up with me – since I’m slow. So it’s not unusual that I take off without him. This time though, instead of following me, Kevin got back in his car and drove around to the other side of the lake. He proceeded to set up a mini luminaria. The bags said “Love you babe <3″. (Slight back story – Greenlake has a luminaria every year, the second Saturday in December. Two years ago, we lost track of everything and everyone around us at the luminaria. We were dating the next week.) Kevin was standing at the far end of the luminaria with a rose in his hands. The funny part is I saw this guy setting up a luminaria and I remember thinking “What is this idiot doing setting up a luminaria in the rain?” I quickly realized it was Kevin and immediately started to cry. The first thing out of my mouth, half choked up, half out of breath from running was “You’re not running…”
He pulled me off to the side so we could look at the lake. He said a lot of really wonderful things that I have no recollection of and then he asked me to marry him! I said Yes
Kevin and I have been talking about it (our wonderful future together) for a while. And because I’m crazy, I kept trying to anticipate when/where/what/how. He totally surprised me, caught me off guard and curses, made me cry. He later told me he was going to propose in Lincoln City over New Years because the ocean is so special to us….but he couldn’t find a ring he liked. Then he was going to do it in Mexico…but we both got sick. I’d thought I’d never be happy about getting sick in Mexico but I’m so glad we did because I can’t think of a better proposal than ours.
Love you babe <3 Forever and ever.
Que Bueno
Happy 2010, friends!
My apologies for the furlough. Its’ been a lot busy with little to write about. Funny how that works. Here’s the holiday re-cap:
For our two year anniversary, Kevin took me on a surprise overnight date! Poor Kevin, after last year (which was a super surprise – like I had no idea it was even happening surprise), I told him it’s expected now. He set the bar too high for himself. Lucky me, he loves surprising me even more than I love being surprised! This year, he arranged for us to soak in the pools and get a massage at Banya 5 and stay the night downtown. Yay!
In Spokane, were new traditions of horrible gingerbread house assembly – horrible because Auntie didn’t read the directions first…sneaking the candy was the best part anyway! And old traditions at the Edburg’s Rockin’ Christmas Eve. Christmas weekend flew by but I was lucky to get to visit with everyone I had hoped.
For New Years, the annual Brick House, Crock Pot Cookoff Party commenced in Lincoln City, Oregon. Like walking off the plane in Honolulu, something about this crew gives me a perma-grin I can’t seem to shake. I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate a great year, and ring in the new, than with these guys. Well, except Kevin and I would have loved to surf! Stupid winter storm watch, flash flood, BS. And, yup, my meatball subs with homemade marinara took first place in the crock pot cookoff. Can I get a “Three-peat!” Kevin tied with Ambrose for second with his mommy blog Orange Cranberry Bread Pudding!
Much love to you for the best 2010 has to offer. Already, it looks to be full of weddings and babies. I can’t wait!
