Belly Watch – Week 18

Belly Watch – Week 18

We wanted to document Baby C’s belly watch and quickly found these “maternity series” are the new “thing.”  Seriously, google “maternity series” – it’s slightly crazy.  As far as I know, or as far as I’m concerned, it was all started by this guy who’s blog I started following because of the series he did of his wife, then he did this series and then this other girl did a series and then everyone else on the planet having a baby, like ourselves, copy catted – because it’s pretty bad ass.

This first batch is coming in a clump because with the holidays it got just a little too crazy for baby Daddy to make them perfect – we managed to fit in time for pictures but that’s about it.

It’s a….!

It’s a….!

Our big idea of waiting over a month to reveal the sex of Baby C didn’t last more than two weeks.  We were (ok, I was) really anxious so we decided to make Christmas extra special this year and open up our little envelope that was burning a hole in my bag.  True story, it never left my bag (until I gave it to Mar).

Mar, our baker, had agreed to make our reveal party cake so I asked her if she wouldn’t mind wrapping up our “present” for us. Her idea of wrapping was much more exciting than we could have ever hoped for – it was the perfect present.

Cake Pops! There are more pops underneath the bag with a ribbon that say "It's a...!"

It's a BOY!

The kids grabbed the cake pops faster than we could figure out our baby is a boy and we quickly learned it was right under our noses the entire time. Adorable (and really dang delicious)!

Cake of the Month – Peppermint Ice Cream Cake

Cake of the Month – Peppermint Ice Cream Cake

To wrap up 2011, I leave you with this ridiculously delicious Peppermint Ice Cream Cake.  I borrowed Mar’s peppermint extract a year ago and never gave it back so decided it must be a sign to make this cake again (thanks Mar!).  It’s pretty much the easiest cake EVER to make.  Seriously, the most difficult part is clearing out enough freezer room to store the cake!
